in case you were wondering…

why I am currently residing in Texas…this post is for you.  A few months ago, I met a woman named Jill Monaco in Nashville who is the Director of Artist Relations & Events at The Seed Company…a.k.a. OneVerse. After a few conversations, she invited me down to Arlington, TX to help her during her busy season of shows and events.  Beyond the normal conferences and artists’ shows, OneVerse is partnering with Word Entertainment and The Winter Jam Tour for the 2011-2012 run.  It’s a very exciting opportunity as we launch the End Bible Poverty campaign in the largest arenas, in 52 cities across the country. $10 for 10 artists, pretty awesome deal. You should probably see if the tour is coming to city near you…just saying…

Now back to the subject at hand, you might be asking…what does OneVerse do? And what exactly is Bible poverty? Well, I’m glad you asked.  Did you know that there are 350 million people that still do not have a single verse of scripture in their language? It’s mind boggling when you think about it. I believe I have 3 Bible’s in my possession, all different versions of course.  How many do you have? Beyond the Bible, how many commentaries to you own? And devotional books? Daily Bible verses sent to your phone and email? God’s Word is so accessible to most of us, that we often take it for granted.

Can you imagine a world where there is no hope in Christ? No living, breathing Word of God to go to, to meditate on, to find comfort.  No idea that there is a loving Father who knows us better than we know ourselves and has an incredible, unfathomable plan for our lives?

There are more people in the world that don’t have a complete Bible in their own language than those without food and clean water combined. That is a staggering statistic.  But you can help.

OneVerse offers a variety of ways to give.  Each verse costs $26 to translate.  You can go here to learn more about their programs and the people groups who are currently working on translating the Bible.

You can join the End Bible Poverty campaign by simply texting “Oneverse” to 94932 to download the FREE smart phone app.  Watch the video to learn more about it…

Go. Download it now. It’s pre-loaded with $10 to play around with, so just give it a try.  And if you are moved to give to the cause then give away :).

I have been here for two weeks now, and it has been an incredible journey learning about what this organization is doing around the globe. Every day I am blessed by a story about how someone was able to read the Bible for the very first time. The Gospel is ours to share…and this is your chance.

If you are still curious about the work of The Seed Company, I encourage you to visit their website to learn more.  I am learning everyday, and it is fascinating.

Follow the OneVerse Artists program on Twitter to find out more about the work that I am doing.  It’s fun!
